Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) is a unique and highly effective treatment for moderate to severe acne. There are 3 steps to this treatment: 1) Gentle microdermabrasion to deeply cleanse and exfoliate your skin and unclog pores. Step 2: application of the light-absorbing agent Levulan. This liquid is left on your skin while it very selectively sinks into pimples, acne cysts and the overactive sebaceous glands that feed acne bacteria. The absorption of the Levulan essentially turns the acne and oil glands into "targets" for the next step - light.  Step 3:  You are treated with the ELOS blue light acne laser. This laser is drawn to the "targets", strong oxygen radicals are formed and the bacteria responsible for the acne is destroyed.  Your skin will be very photosensitive for the next 48 hours, so it is recommended that you stay indoors during that time. The best results are seen with 2 or 3 treatments performed once every 4-6 weeks.
