EARLY DETECTION IS IMPERATIVE! Annual skin exams are an important part of staying healthy. Dr. Mauricio performs skin exams to look for suspicious growths, moles and lesions or changes in any previous growths or moles and to check for early symptoms of skin cancer. If is imperative that you been by Dr. Mauricio before your annual exam is due if you notice rapid changing moles or lesions, suspicious lesions that are itchy and/or bleeding.
You must begin annual skin exams if you have any of the following:
- - Suspicious moles or skin lesions
- - Symptoms of early skin cancer
- - A personal or family history of skin cancer
- - A change in the skin, such as a growth, irritation or sore that does not heal, or a change in a wart or mole.
During your annual skin exam Dr. Mauricio will thoroughly examine your skin and may ask you questions about suspicious lesions. If there are any suspicious lesions that need to be diagnosed, you will have a simple biopsy to take a small sample of the skin lesion and to be sent to pathology to be tested. Results are usually available in a week.
